چکیده

Abstract In this work, lead(II) adsorption on activated carbons, tire-derived carbon (TAC), and commercial (CAC), in a packed-bed column, was simulated using the Aspen Adsorption® V11 flowsheet simulator. The simulator used to model fixed-bed column establish breakthrough curves by varying initial concentration of ions (500 mg/L, 1000 2000 3000 mg/L), bed height (0.2 m, 0.3 0.4 0.5 0.6 m), flow rate (9.88 × 10 −4 m 3 /s, 1.98 −3 2.96 3.95 4.94 /s), at constant temperature pressure 25 °C bar, respectively. At optimum conditions 500 mg/L concentration, height, 9.88 /s rate, times were 488 s 23 for TAC CAC, Under same conditions, capacity obtained t 114.26 mg/g 7.72 CAC. simulation results indicate potential comparison

Fixed-bed Column of Surface Modified Activated Carbons for Adsorption of Mercury (ii) in Aqueous Solution

Activated carbons are universal adsorbents that can be obtained from a wide variety of raw materials, and have been found to be very effective for mercury removal from water. This contribution presents a comparative adsorption in column study of activated carbons obtained by physical activation of carbonized eucalyptus wood with water vapour, as adsorbents of mercury in liquid phase. Two sampl...

Modeling and Simulation for Dynamics of Packed Bed Adsorption

Understanding the dynamics of fixed-bed adsorption columns for modeling is a demanding task due to the strong nonlinearities in the equilibrium isotherms, interference effects of competition of solutes for adsorbent sites, mass transfer resistances between fluid phase and solid phase, and fluid-dynamic dispersion phenomena. The interplay of these effects produces steep concentration fronts, whi...

Understanding Phenol Adsorption Mechanisms on Activated Carbons

The interactions between phenol molecules and activated carbons were investigated in order to understand the adsorption mechanism of this aromatic compound. A series of activated carbons with varied chemical composition but similar porous features were synthesized and submitted to phenol exposure from aqueous phase, followed by thermogravimetric analysis and identification of the desorbed speci...

Adsorption of Cd (II) on Modified Granular Activated Carbons: Isotherm and Column Study.

In this work, equilibrium and dynamic adsorption tests of cadmium Cd (II) on activated carbons derived from different oxidation treatments (with either HNO₃, H₂O₂, or NaOCl, corresponding to GACoxN, GACoxP, and GACoxCl samples) are presented. The oxidation treatments determined an increase in the surface functional groups (mainly the acidic ones) and a decrease in the pHPZC (except for the GACo...

Mercury chemistry of brominated activated carbons – Packed-bed breakthrough experiments

Coal-fired power plants provided between 45% and 50% of the United States net energy generation in the years between 1999 and 2010 and will continue to be a primary source of electricity into the future. Among the major environmental concerns of coal utilization is the release of mercury (Hg), which was recently regulated by the US EPA in the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS) ruling in De...
